FoodieMeetTO Bake Off

Last night I went to FoodieMeet Bake-Off at Samovar Room in Toronto. This was the first time I attended a 'foodie meet', but it was pretty sweet (heh, pun intended). Most of Toronto's food bloggers were there, and we were all required to bring home-made baked goodies that embodied the evenings theme-- escaping Toronto for the holidays. To me, this was not an easy task, but I ended up bringing my interpretation of 'petit fours'...yes, interpretation, because they completely diverge from the traditional. In exchange for a $ 25 donation to the Stop Food Centre, guests received four treat tickets and one ballot-- these tickets could then be exchanged for any treat you fancied. The prizes were pretty great, but I had my eye on the 'Cookin' with Coolio' cook book (;does anyone feel like trading this brilliant book for a bottle of pinot?). More details about the foodie meet and attendees here.

Oh.. and can someone please get me that recipe for the BACON BLONDIES? I'm in withdrawl.

*Kudos to Suresh and Andriea who organized the event, I thought it was pretty successful... just next time, please don't put me in the 'professional' category... I'm not quite there:p
Here were some of my 'neighbors' treats... and potentially the cause of my sugar high. (@sarahbhood,@spradicity,@sweetescapes, @cakeordeathca)
Kristin from @CakeorDeathCa made this brilliant St.Lawrence Market Cake. The pictures don't do it justice.

These were Catherine's (Sugar-Baking.com) pina colada/fererro rocher cupcakes... didn't get a chance to try them, but how adorable?

This was my little set up. Now you know what I mean by 'interpretation' of petit fours. I really have to try these again sometime.. the traditional way. Sugar decoration tutorial will follow:)
Uhoh...Someone ate Gingy's leg.
Unlucky number 217044...but look at all those tickets.
